FASCIA & FOAM ROLLER
Distance Education Workshop


Workshop Description:

 

This practical workshop is ideal for health professionals who are looking to improve their knowledge of fascial trains and how to utilise the foam roller and spikey ball to their full potential.

 

We will review the anatomy and function of fascia within the body and its relationship to tensegrity. The fascial trains within the body will be examined and practical myofascial releases to correct common fascial dysfunctions will be demonstrated. A comprehensive practical section will include stability and mobility exercises for you to include in your clients program and have them functioning at their best.

 

 

This practical workshop will not only have you feeling great, you will also have a broader understanding of:

 

- Specific anatomy of fascial trains which connect the entire body and how releasing the plantar fascia can improve hamstring mobility, or how calf releases can relieve headache symptoms.

 

- How to release fascia and connective tissue, massage muscles and release trigger points using the large foam roller and spikey massage ball.

 

- Correctly perform stability and mobility exercises using the large foam roller as a recovery session.

Workshop Description:

 

This practical workshop is ideal for health professionals who are looking to tailor personalised programs for their 1-on-1 clients to restore optimal function in the NECK & SHOULDER region.

 

This workshop will discuss the anatomy of the optimal function of the joints and muscles in this area. There will be an  in-depth review of the common injuries, dysfunctions and compensatory patterns that are likely to occur in your clients.  Finally, we practically develop the best progressive strengthening exercise program to address these common dysfunctions.

Workshop Description:

 

This practical workshop is ideal for health professionals who are looking to tailor personalised programs for their 1-on-1 clients to restore optimal function in the CORE & PELVIS region.

The  anatomy involved in maintaining core and pelvic stability will be reviewed, along with assessment techniques to test core and pelvic stability. We will examine the most common injuries and dysfunctions that you will see in your client and the best progressive strengthening program for each system of pelvic and core muscles to address these issues.

 

 

Have you ever had a client with recurring knee and hip injuries?

You may be strengthening the wrong part of the body.

 

Learn how pelvic stability plays the key role in rehabilitation and prevention of all lower limb injuries, as well as:

 

- The latest concepts of retraining core stability, including specific activation and strengthening for the pelvic floor muscles, diaphragm, transversus abdominus and deep spinal stabilisers.

 

- Understand how the core is the foundation of stability and strength for optimal pelvic stability.

 

- Develop your understanding of how to improve and prevent sacroiliac joint pain through utilising the teams of muscles know as the pelvic sling system.

 

- Ensure your functional fitness exercises are training the correct muscles by learning tricks and tips to activate the gluteus maximus, medius and hip external rotators.

 

- Learn techniques to downtrain the muscles that are prone to “spasm” around the pelvis causing compensatory patterns that increase the risk of injury.

 

- Develop exercise progressions for the anterior and posterior oblique systems, as well as the lateral pelvic stabilisers.

Merrin is the owner of active anatomy health professional education and physiotherapy in Belrose, Sydney. For the past 7 years she has been developing and presenting workshops to health professionals around Australia in addition to working as a physiotherapist in her clinic. Working as a physiotherapist in a Pilates studio for more than 15 years, she has become an expert in her role of exercise rehabilitation. Merrin has extensive lecturing experience within the fitness industry and is regarded as an expert in her role as educator in specific exercise programs & managing injuries. She delivers regular presentations & workshops to a number of institutions, including conferences such as FILEX. She is an APA, ESSA and Sports Physiotherapy member with a particular interest in dance and kids sports injuries.

Posture & Assessment Online Workshop

 

Workshop Description:

 

This practical workshop is ideal for health professionals who are looking to improve their skills and confidence with performing the initial static and dynamic postural assessment.

 

Once establishing what the optimal posture looks like, we will then look at how to identify areas of weakness and loss of mobility in your client through static and dynamic postural assessments. You will be taken through a comprehensive selection of range of motion and flexibility tests, followed by some of the most common postural problems and specific exercise programs to address them.
